The Charities
Since its first performance in 2006, Greyfriars Opera has distributed more than £150,000 to local charities. In 2011 we aim to once again raise in excess of £20,000 which will be distributed to the following local charities:
St Michael’s Hospice is the main beneficiary of Greyfriars Opera. The hospice provides palliative care to patients with advanced illness and their families in Hastings and Rother. Like many hospices, St Michael’s is not a part of the NHS and relies on public support to raise the majority of the annual running costs of £5 million.
Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospitalprovides a wide range of health and community care to thousands of local people who would otherwise have to travel considerable distances.
Help for Heroes an organisation formed to help those who have been wounded in Britain's current conflicts.
And four other Local Charities to be announced.
